Having two adult sons, I often reflect on how I raised them. Way too much red-pencil at times, and not enough or none at other times. I constantly analyze the methods I used in raising them. I doubt so much and am sad I wasn't a perfect parent, but then I realize...y'know, my boys actually turned out to be good men. Maybe, that's all that really matters.
I have one son in college, two in high school, and a daughter who is going into the 4th grade this year. My kids are actually amazing people, and while I want to keep growing as a parent and push myself in the areas where I am weak, in the end, I'm a committed parent and I'm doing a lot of things right, too.
We will never be perfect and that is something we have tried to teach our kids. I get out the red pencil too much with them, but I point out how I'm using it on myself, too! They have areas that need correction, but man, so do I. And they know I see that. I apologize a lot. I think that helps when I'm being too fussy. We extend a lot of grace around here!
Yes, the enjoyment of summer can fade fast! Too much freedom for myself and kids can lead to sloppy character , for sure. Thank you for sharing Tiffany! Can’t wait to read the book you recommended.
I have found that spending one on one time w my kids helps me to be more patient and loving towards them and less critical too. It’s all about relationship.
That’s such a valuable insight Kelly. It’s hard to make time for those one-on-one times as they get older and their lives are full, but this is great advice. Thanks for sharing!
Oh boy....feels like you wrote this for me my friend!!! I often go crazy with that red pencil! And it is hard to reign in when things feel overwhelming! Thankfully, by the Holy Spirit we are able!!!❤

I completely agree, Bob.

The struggle is real. I’m not sure how people handle this parenting gig without Jesus!
Needed to hear this. 😘
Me too 😂
